I am a Kamilaroi Woman, born and raised in Inverell, and now living in Blacktown NSW, on Dharug Country. I have family connections at Nowra on Yuin Country, Kempsey on Dunghutti Country, and in the beautiful Blue Mountains, also on Dharug Country.
Becoming a Wayapa Wuurrk practitioner has raised my awareness of what our Country can offer all of us to reconnect the disconnect to the elements that are all around us and look after these elements using the Wayapa Wuurrk practices.
The Wayapa Wuurrk practice has taught me that when I’m on my Country, I really look and listen to it. I feel safe and at peace. I have a longing to learn more, spend time sitting and hearing what the voices of the Spirits of my ancestors and mother earth is telling me, what I need to See, what I need to Hear, what I need to Feel, and what I need to Do.
I feel the Spirits everywhere. My country is green and healthy, my country is blue, when you are looking in the distance and seeing the blue mountains, the trees are green, the river are flowing, my Country is alive and the Spirits of my elders and ancestors are all close.
The beautiful sky by day is bright, and the stars are twinkling across the night skies like millions of souls watching and protecting us.
It’s good to visit my Country, where my mob have wandered and come from. I feel connected to my family that was.
Through this connection to mother earth, rivers and the skies through Wayapa Wuurrk my Spirit is stronger.
I can’t wait to start and share my Wayapa Wuurrk journey with everyone!
