It has come to our attention that certain individuals have published false and cruel statements online with a view to causing damage to the reputation of Wayapa ® Wuurrk Co-Founders Jamie Marloo Thomas & Sara Jones, and by extension to Wayapa Wuurrk itself.
As you may be aware, the publication of defamatory matter (including on social media) is an actionable wrong under the laws of each State and Territory in Australia, the purpose of which is to vindicate and protect the reputation of the person defamed. We confirm that appropriate legal action is currently underway in order to remedy this matter.
There is much intergenerational trauma throughout Aboriginal community as a result of systemic oppression which is too often turned inward on community. There are many Aboriginal led organisations that are now stepping into this space to assist in this healing process.
The Wayapa Wuurrk model is based on fusing physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing with the wisdom of Australia’s and other ancient cultures that lived in harmony with their environment. Kinship is essential to this model. During this time, Wayapa Wuurrk and its supporting Cultural Elders ask that you reflect and act upon your personal experience and relationship with Wayapa Wuurrk and its associated entities including our certified Wayapa Practitioners, and to let that guide your judgement moving forward.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
Love and strength to all.
